The correct answer is B. As a result of the British gaining of Dutch's colony in North America, New Amsterdam changed its name into New York.
New Amsterdam was founded in 1625 by the Dutch West Indian Company, and was located on the southern tip of the island of Manhattan, strategic and defensible place for the fluvial access of the fur trade in the Hudson Valley.
It became the largest Dutch settlement in North America and remained in the hands of the Netherlands until 1664, when it passed into the hands of England. The Dutch regained it briefly in 1673 and relinquished it to England in 1674 under the terms of the Treaty of Westminster that ended the Third Anglo-Dutch War, renaming the English the settlement as New York.
