Pour the dry mixture in a beaker

Step Two

Put enough water in the beaker to cover the mixture

Step 3

Fold a round piece of filter paper into quarters

Step four

Hold  a funnel vertically using a clamp to hold the funnel. put a clean beaker below the funnel.

Step five

Fold a piece of filter paper into 4 quarters. If you don't know what that means, ask your teacher. Put the filterpaper in the wide mouth of the funnel.

Step six

Pour the mixture in the wide mouth of the funnel containing the filter paper.

The sand should stay out of the clean beaker, but the sugar and water should go through the filter paper. Put the water/sugar mixture in the beaker aside  and let the water evaporate.
