There were numerous efforts which took place to get a seperate homeland "Pakistan" for Muslims of India. It can be traced back to the war of independence of 1857, in which Indians fought the British for freedom but failed. Sir Sayed Ahmad Khan introduced the two nation theory.  The Muslim League, found in 1906 played an important part in this. In 1933 Chaudary Rehmath Ali wrote his famous pamphlet "Now or Never" and the name Pakistan was introduced. Allama Iqbal's famous adress "Allahbad Adress", Jinnah's 14 points, Khalifat Movement, Gandhi Jinnah Talks & round table conferences are a few more efforts for the seperate homeland.
