Later a political Cartooonest named Thomas Nasty used a drawing of an Elaphent in 1874 to repacent republican voter to moke the new york herdald and its crical viewpoints of Grant running for a third term (which was allowed back then) throught the rest of thr 1800s other political Cartooonest began to used the elephant to represent the republican party and it ovently became the logo for it.
