Yuliana, rylee, Glenda and zaret decided to sell tacos and burritos at lunch to make money for their club. They sell 28 items and make $98. If they sell each taco for $2.50 and each burrito for $4.25, then how many of each did they sell?

there's 3 ways to solve this but imma do substitution

x+y=28
-x -x
y=28-x

2.5x+4.25(28-x)=98
2.5x+119-4.25x=98
-1.75x+119=98
-119 -119
-1.75x=-21
divide both sides by -1.75
x=12 so that means 12 tacos so now you can plug this value into the other equation:

x+y=28
12+y=28
-12 -12
y=16 burritos

so 12 tacos and 16 burritos!
