1.- The peace treaties caused resentment and dissatisfaction in the defeated countries, basically in Germany.

2.- It weakened the defeated countries, generating poverty and economic and political destabilization.

During the negotiations of the Treaty of Peace, the original idea was to have a good treaty after World War I that could bring peace to Europe.

For instance, US President Woodrow Wilson created his "14 Points Plan" that included recommendations for long-lasting peace in the region.  

However, allies such as Great Britain and France did not want peace, they wanted retribution and forced Germany to pay for war reparations. These countries considered that Germany had created too much pain and destruction and had to pay for it. That is why Wison's plan was discarded.
